In 1912 Gull Rock and its Coach house was built in a magnificent position on Treknow cliffs overlooking the beach at Trebarwith Strand on a plot of 16 acres previously owned by the Earl of Wharncliffe. In 1932 10 acres of the land, including part of Treknow cliffs, was gifted to The National Trust. The Coach House was sympathetically converted into a comfortable self catering holiday cottage 17 years ago. The ground floor consists of a lounge, originally the coach house proper and a partially separated kitchen diner area, converted from the stable. Heating is electric, (mainly thermostatically controlled radiators) apart from a woodburner which can create a cosy atmosphere in the lounge and warms the upper floor too. The main bathroom and toilet is on the ground floor with a shower over the bath. Upstairs, originally the hayloft, there are two bedrooms with low ceilings, one a double and the other a twin. The master bedroom possibly has one of the best views in Cornwall, no need even to get out of bed to appreciate this! There is also a toilet and small washbasin on this floor.
We provide all bed linen, tea towels, kitchen towels and towels
for personal use but not those for the beach and swimming.
The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle
and coffee maker and Washer/dryer whilst in the lounge there is a colour TV and a Video-recorder.
This self catering holiday cottage has its own small garden,
mostly laid to grass with access to the 5 acres of fields still a part of the Gull Rock estate.
During the low season there are frequently cattle grazing these fields, these always create a tranquil influence! I am sorry that we do not accommodate pets.
