Whilst there is plenty to occupy you in the immediate local area or in North Cornwall all parts of Cornwall are accessible in the course of a day's drive. Within the county there are several National Trust properties and gardens. The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are also a must for those with an interest in botany and horticulture. The Tate and Barbara Hepworth Museum are close together in St Ives and the Maritime Museum at Falmouth is also worth a visit. The Orca Sea Faris company in Falmouth run expedition boat trips to spot dolphins, seals, whales and birds and other boat trips are available for fishing, nature cruises or as just an opportunity to see the coastline from another angle. There are further areas of outstanding natural beauty on The Roseland,
Lizard and Penwith peninsulas and the complex
at Lands End is as far
as you can go in the county. For a special day out you can visit the
Isles
of Scilly
travelling by Airbus from
Newquay airport
or by Helicopter from
Penzance. Alternatively the Scillonian
III sails
from Penzance taking two to three hours to reach these wonderful islands
and allowing you around five hours ashore.
